Run for the Roses with Renaissance NY Midtown and Rock & Reilly's NYC>>
Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel restaurant Rock & Reilly’s NYC will host a fun and fashionable event in honor of the 143rd running of the Kentucky Derby. The celebration is set to take place Saturday, May 6, 2017 from 2:00pm – 7:30pm.
Guests can enjoy the race and kick off the spring season at NYC’s largest outdoor space, which will be transformed for the festivities. Encompassing 10,000 square-feet, the expansive venue includes an 8,000 square-foot terrace with a retractable roof, the largest of its kind in New York City. Boasting 35 HD televisions, at Rock & Reilly’s NYC, there’s no such thing as a bad seat to watch the race.
It’s no secret that the Kentucky Derby is almost as famous for its hats as its horses. Located in the heart of the Garment District, the Renaissance New York Midtown is no stranger to fashion. Those who plan to attend are encouraged to dress up in Derby-style attire to celebrate the day. As an homage to this Southern tradition of headwear, the attendee with the best hat will be awarded a gift certificate for their very own custom hat from Yestadt Millinery.
Event-goers will be entertained by a DJ and classic horse-racing themed lawn games. Rock & Reilly’s NYC will feature their own spin on Kentucky’s favorite bourbon-based cocktail, the Mint Julep. There will also be a make your own Julep station, sponsored by Woodford Reserve. Guests will have the opportunity to pick a horse to win the race and those who select the winner will receive a complimentary drink.
